A Woman's Body is Her Own Business

Ok I know that is not a new topic but it's something that people are still arguing over.  From a religious position I understand where the church stands on this issue. Ok fine.  What I really have a problem with is people in legislation standing around in a room trying to figure out a way to control what a woman can and cannot  do with her body.  Another thing is this: Making something illegal does not stop people from doing it. Abortions are not something that we want people doing illegally. There was a time when it was illegal and women had to go to secret locations such as back rooms in beauty parlors and the procedure was done by someone who was not a medical professional in a non-sterile environment.   As a person who has studied and worked in public health and nursing, I have come across case studies of people who have seriously injured themselves in the act of performing abortions in secret. Which of course leads them to having to go to the hospital anyway because they really hurt something. At least if it is legal it can be done by a medical professional in a clean and sterile area.  So I feel that people need to just leave women alone and let them decide what they want to do.
