Drama Behind Wearing a Mask

I don't think anyone would argue with my statement that 2020 has been a crazy year. One of the main issues is with COVID-19. It is affecting everything, from businesses to school. While research is still being done, we are supposed to be doing our part. This means social distancing, diligence with hand-washing and sanitizing, and wearing some form of face cover.

I live in Alabama and Governor Kay Ivy issued an order mandating that people wear masks in public. AARP recently published an article by Andy Markowitz which stated that 34 states now have face-covering mandates.  Sara Bondell, a medical science writer, produced an article discussing the recommendation of wearing masks to slow the spread of COVID-19.  According to her: "Recent studies show a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus are asymptomatic and that those who will eventually develop symptoms can transmit the virus to others. This means that the virus can spread from person to person in close proximity, even if those individuals are not exhibiting symptoms. Because of this, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as grocery stores or pharmacies."
Of course, any time the public as a whole is asked to cooperate, we have people who want to start drama.  Even though this is something that benefits everyone, there are some people who seem to have an issue with wearing a mask, saying that it violates their rights, they try to claim that they have medical reasons for not wearing one. All kinds of stuff. We have even witnessed people throwing tantrums because they were asked by an employee to put on a mask before walking into an establishment.  These are adults, not children, yelling, screaming, throwing items around, refusing to leave, and in some cases, becoming violent.  Keep in mind that there are signs already posted on the doors of these establishments stating mask requirements, often including a smiley face wearing a mask.  So these people knew it was a requirement before entering but decided to ignore it.

Look at these people acting a fool because there were asked to wear a mask!

My opinion is this: You have people who always feel like they are the exception to the rule and they just want to be contrary because they don't want to be told what to do.  These individuals behave this way instead of thinking objectively that if we can work together on this, maybe we can get these case numbers under control.
